Fellows of ASMS

This new program will recognize ASMS members for their contributions to both mass spectrometry as a field and exceptional service to ASMS.

Selection Criteria

Fellow status will be awarded to ASMS members to recognize their achievements and contributions in both of two areas:

  1. research, education, technology, instrumentation, innovative applications, and/or management in the field of mass spectrometry, and
  2. sustained exceptional service to the ASMS community. 

Fellows will be recognized for their achievements and contributions in all venues, including academia, industry, government, and other communities. 

Fellows must have been an ASMS member for at least 15 years, not necessarily consecutive and not including years as a student member.

Nomination Process

An online nomination form will be available in September. Nomination deadline is November 30. 

The following information will be required to complete the nomination. We encourage gathering this information as soon as possible.

  • Nominator initiates the process by completing a basic form that includes:
    • Their letter of nomination in support of the nominee (2 pages max).
    • Nominee's name and contact information.
    • Nominee's ASMS Member ID (please request this from the nominee directly in advance of beginning the online nomination form).
    • Ask nominee if they have been a member of ASMS for 15 years (see Eligibility section for more information).
  • Next, upon completion of the above, the nominee will receive a link to provide these items:
    • Professional accomplishments (top 5 most significant) each with 50-word max description.
    • Service to ASMS (top 5 most significant) each with 50-word max description.
    • Demographic data
    • CV

Eligibility

  • Nominations for The Fellows of ASMS Program must be submitted by an ASMS member. 
  • Nominees must have been an ASMS member for at least 15 years, not necessarily consecutive (though preferred) and not including years as a student member.
  • Self-nominations are not permitted. 
  • Current members of the ASMS Board or ASMS Fellows Selection Committee are not eligible to be nominees. 
  • Nominations are held for three years
