Editor-in-Chief Call for Nominations

Journal of American Society for Mass Spectrometry (JASMS) is the peer-reviewed journal owned by ASMS and published by the American Chemical Society Publications (ACS Publications). The journal has a circulation of approximately 7,500 ASMS members worldwide, plus a strong presence in libraries and institutions through publishing consortia managed by ACS Publications. The Editor-in-Chief leads an editorial team consisting of six prestigious Associate Editors and an Editorial Board of 24-36 scientists. The Editor-in-Chief is assisted by an ACS Publications-appointed Managing Editor and editorial support staff.

Call for Nominations

JASMS is seeking candidates for the position of Editor-in-Chief for a term to commence officially February 1, 2025. Transition and training period to begin January 1, 2025. A timeline for the search is found at the bottom of this page.

To nominate or self-nominate, please send a one-page description of professional background and interest to become Editor-in-Chief to info@asms.org by October 4. Self-nominations are encouraged.

Retiring Editor-in-Chief and Interim Editor-in-Chief

Current JASMS Editor-in-Chief Vicki Wysocki, will step down effective October 1 in order to devote time and resources to her new appointment as Chair of School of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Current JASMS Associate Editor Facundo Fernandez will step in as Interim EIC during the search process. ASMS is grateful to Vicki for her service as JASMS EIC and dedication to the Society.

Criteria for candidates

include, but are not limited to:

  • Well-respected, research-active scientist with broad perspective of field
  • Excellent and sustained publication record, including publications in JASMS
  • Member of long standing and active participant in ASMS
  • Desire and ability to spend time and energy leading and promoting the journal
  • Willingness to relinquish editorial responsibilities in all other journals
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and responsiveness
